Maria E. Pelow, 59, of Cottonwood died July 23 in Phoenix. She was born June 15, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Giacomo and Petrina La Rosa Messina.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from American University, graduating cum laude.
She was a local artist, a massage therapist, Reiki Master, private art teacher and a graphic design executive. In art she enjoyed painting with acrylic and watercolor. She was also an animal enthusiast. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Ms. Pelow leaves a son Jaymes Dermody and daughter Jessica Dermody, both of New York and her beloved dogs Max and Truffles.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 2:30 PM.
